We left our jobs to earn money online so that we could be rid of the stress of the daily nine to five grind. However, the stress has followed some of us home. Stress occurs when we are not relaxed, and our minds are not settled. Often times our minds are not settled when there is too much to do, too many distractions, and too many problems.

Unfortunately, your online business can generate its own stress factors. From isolation, to the noises and distractions of your children in the background while on an important phone call. Worrying about where the next sale will come from and if it will come in time to meet your monthly financial obligations. Having too much to do, but not enough hours in the day.

Not surprisingly, an overload of stress is bad for your body, your emotional health, and your business. While you cannot eliminate it completely, there are ways to reduce your stress levels dramatically.

1. Schedule Your Time

Set a schedule based on your priorities and your goals. Yes, flexibility is one of the major reasons for wanting to earn money online, but it is still a good idea to have a basic time-use plan for your day. Determine in advance how much time you need to spend each day on household tasks, family and children, and your business activities. Break your day down to manageable time segments, and write down which activity belongs when. Doing this will give you peace of mind as you will know what needs to be done and when it has been completed.

2. Involve Your Family

Let your family know what you need to complete each day. Make then a part of your online business by sharing your plans with them. Your spouse and older children can help out as well. Whether it be with the chores, or even with your business. Giving them tasks helps develop responsibility and pride in accomplishments. Schedule business time for when smaller children are sleeping or otherwise occupied. You might even consider having someone help out by distracting or entertaining children during set times for your phone calls or other business activities when you need quiet.

3. Get Support

On occasion, it is really nice to have someone to talk to. You should consider joining an online or community networking groups. This can be an invaluable source not only of emotional support, but for tips and advice as well. Nothing helps to reduce your stress levels more than talking to people who also aspire to earn money online. Ask questions, give advice, or just let off some steam. These groups are there for a reason, so take advantage of them. You can get great ideas on both family and business issues, and these networks also can sometimes be a good source of business leads.

4. Relax Your Surroundings

Even if your home office is not ideal, make sure that you find ways to separate it from the chaos of the household. This helps in two ways. First, it helps you remove yourself from the household distractions in the background, and second it allows you to emotionally change gears when you "leave work", and rejoin the household. If your living and working spaces are not kept separate, you will often find yourself worrying about work during family time because your work area is in constant view.

5. Do Not Procrastinate

You will avoid this if you simply schedule your time, as alluded to above. Often, stress is caused by the constant realization that you have not done what you planned to do, or what you should have done. Do not beat yourself up over this, as guilt is also a catalyst to stress. Occasionally, you will not get something completed which you had planned. you can schedule it in later. This is one of the advantages when we earn money online. We work for ourselves.
