Earn Money Online - Are Paid Surveys Worth It?
Ever since the internet became a household word, people have been looking for ways to earn money online. And, there have been many scam artists around, very happy to provide "opportunities" to work at home. Some of these are legit, others make money for the scammers. A popular scam is has ads all over the internet that simply state, "Earn Money Online With Surveys".
Is it even possible? Well, yes and no. Some of the largest survey and consumer marketing companies have been around for decades, and added online businesses to their present business models. However, keep in mind that even these large companies don't pay much to take surveys. Although the ads want you to believe you'll make loads of money taking surveys, in reality you'll be lucky to make a few dollars doing each one.
In order to figure out where the money might be, you need to know the difference between an "offer" and a "survey". Many of the scam companies out there ask you take surveys which are really nothing more than accepting useless offers for products and services you have no use for at all. In return you might get $1. However, these same companies won't pay you until you have an unrealistic amount of money in your account, usually $50-$100. Most people get so frustrated trying to earn the $50 that they give up well beforehand.
If you do reach your minimum, it could take a long time to see any money and chances are they will take out some sort of administrative or processing fees, drastically reducing your net check.
A survey is a collection of questions that a company is interested in hearing consumer opinions on. They hire the survey company to send the questions to people who are registered with them. Different surveys go to different demographic segments. There's a good chance that you may never be contacted by a survey company once you register. It could be anything from your income, education or even address. For some people, you may be able to do multiple surveys each day.
Surveys pay in the range of under $1 to $3 or $4. There are a few for about $10 but they are difficult to get and qualify for. Most are very time consuming, frequently over a half hour. You need to figure out if all that time is worth the few bucks you'll end up with. Sometimes you'll even find out half way through a survey that you didn't qualify; you just wasted all that time for nothing.
Another scam revolving around the online survey industry is scammers try to sell you "comprehensive" lists of all the survey companies you can register with. Most of these companies have links that don't work, or are in foreign countries that don't accept US participants. They are a waste of money.
Even concentrating on large reputable companies will not make you much money. Consider yourself lucky if you can make a steady $100 a month doing surveys about four or more hours a day. This is a great opportunity to cure some boredom, but don't think of this as an opportunity to really earn money online.
People have a tendency to confuse surveyors with telemarketers. It doesn't take people long to figure out that the money can add up by the end of the month. Surveys can tell you how easy it is for people to locate your website or how much they value your product. Just remember that when looking to earn money online, do your research.
